How Can You Participate in Moonray’s NFT Mint?
Moonray’s upcoming NFT mint event on November 19th will feature free-to-mint, unique character skins usable in the game. The mint will last for 48 hours, and the skins will be available for purchase and trade on OpenSea. This limited-time event gives players a chance to own exclusive NFTs that enhance their gaming experience.
The Moonray team has been pretty close-lipped about the details. We don’t have a specific time, or URL, or if there are any requirements for the mint. So keep an eye on their social channels for more info.
Base Blockchain Integration and Its Impact on Moonray
Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, Base, is at the heart of Moonray’s latest advancements. This integration introduces key blockchain-enabled features, starting with the release of an NFT collection of playable character skins. These in-game assets, fully tradable on OpenSea, give players true ownership and flexibility within the Moonray universe. The free mint for these unique NFTs begins on November 19th and runs for 48 hours.
Hans Andersson, CBO and co-founder of Moonray Studio, shared his thoughts on this development:
“To achieve broad adoption, you need to focus on the gamer and what brings value to them. In-game cosmetics are nothing new and something the vast majority of gamers enjoy. The Base blockchain allows us to offer true ownership of those digital items, giving players the flexibility they deserve.”
Moonray’s integration with Base will enable a token-based wagering system, building on the eSports aspect of the game.
“A core feature in the Moonray PC game are tournaments and wager matches that can be organized directly by the community. The integration with the Base blockchain will enable a substantially better experience for the gamers and organizers in this regard than what is possible without it.”
-Hans Andersson
Players will be able to organize tournaments and wager matches using MNRY, an ERC20 token created by The Miium Foundation We don’t have an official launch date yet for the MNRY token, but supposedly it will be in the ‘coming weeks’.
Expanding the Moonray Universe
The alpha version launched on the Epic Game Store in July, and Moonray is set to expand to PlayStation 5 next year. However, due to Sony’s current policies, the PlayStation version will launch without web3 features. Despite this, Moonray’s cross-platform strategy aims to attract both web2 and web3 gamers, paving the way for wider adoption once major platforms decide to integrate blockchain elements.
Hans Andersson emphasized,
“Beyond the amazing possibilities with web3 infrastructure, it is critical “web3” games can attract “web2” gamers.” Andersson emphasized, “Enabling cross play to bring in a larger player base found on consoles and Steam is incredibly valuable, but also as important is that our approach positions us well once Sony PlayStation and other large distribution platforms decide on how to integrate blockchain”
Moonray’s ambitions go far beyond its flagship game. The studio is developing a mobile auto-battler, with testing planned for early 2024 and a full release in 2025. Moonray has also ventured into storytelling, partnering with Eisner Award-winning artist Brandon Graham for a series of graphic novels available in over 4,000 stores across the U.S. and U.K. Additionally, the studio has joined forces with Reel FX to explore film and television adaptations of its expanding intellectual property.
By combining gaming, NFTs, esports, and traditional media, Moonray is building a comprehensive ecosystem that appeals to a wide audience. The integration with Base is just one step in a broader strategy to innovate and connect the gaming and blockchain worlds.
The Future of Moonray
Moonray’s recent developments underscore its commitment to bridging the gap between traditional gaming and blockchain technology. With strategic partnerships that include Epic Games, Sony PlayStation, Base, OpenSea, and Animoca Brands, the studio is well-positioned to make its mark in the gaming and entertainment industries. As Moonray continues to grow its IP, the focus remains on enhancing player experiences and fostering broader adoption of web3 technology.
The upcoming free mint on November 19th offers an exciting opportunity for players to claim unique, tradable character skins and dive deeper into the Moonray universe. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, a blockchain enthusiast, or simply curious about the future of gaming, Moonray is one to watch.
