Following the end of Season 1: Higher Stakes, developer Mon Studios has now officially kicked off Season 2: Risk and Reward, giving players a new opportunity to play to airdrop in the monster-catching MMORPG, Spellborne.
What’s New in Spellborne Season 2: Risk and Reward?
Season 2 kicked off on November 25th to start introducing a variety of new updates while allowing players to play and earn the upcoming $BORNE token. The focus for this season is said to be on player ownership, competition, and open markets.
The new features already live for this season include PvP Leagues and Achievements. In December, the web3 gaming studio will add Professions, and possibly Open Markets, alongside various other improvements for a quality blockchain gaming experience.
PvP Leagues are divided into Eras, and the first Era has already kicked off at the start of the season. Players have 45 days to compete in Badged or Random leagues, with the former being a ranked mode, while the latter is for casual matches. All PvP matches are 1v1, and you’ll want to get as high of an ELO rating from Badged Leagues as you can if you want to get a bigger airdrop of $BORNE tokens. You can also earn milestone rewards throughout these competitions, such as “innate-boosted monsters,” and if you end up being among the highest-ranked players, you will have the opportunity to take part in exclusive “Super Tournaments” at some point in the future.
Next to these competitive leagues, the team has launched an alpha version of the Achievements feature, giving players a variety of objectives inspired by nuzlocke challenges to complete in order to earn exclusive rewards that can’t be traded, while having “bragging rights and on-chain proof of your accomplishments.” The challenges range from winning PvP matches in the new league format to capturing certain monsters.
Sometime mid-December, Professions should also go live. With this feature, you will be able to improve the stats of certain skills, such as mining, farming, fishing, and so on. By leveling up these professions, you will be able to unlock new crafting recipes, various buffs, and extra farming slots. You can even get special bonuses for catching rare monsters, and players who max out their stats will get even better chances of getting enchanted monsters.
Open Markets will enable on-chain player-to-player trading within the game, allowing you to mint monsters and skins to trade with other players, alongside items and more. Staking the $BORNE token will let players unlock a variety of exclusive items from the Glory Store. These exclusives are said to include advanced crafting items, rare move teaching tools, and morality resets. Player-driven trading is scheduled to arrive either in December, or the first month of 2025.
Next to all these major updates helping deliver a more engaging web3 gaming experience, players can also look forward to numerous miscellaneous updates. These smaller but very significant improvements include the release of a new guild system, an overhauled chat system, language support “for global players,” and the introduction of social tools. Listed under these miscellaneous updates is even the game’s launch on Android and iOS. If you’ve been waiting for the mobile release, then you might not have to wait longer, as you can now expect it to happen at some point in either December 2024, January 2025, or February 2025, as these updates are set to release over the course of this 3-month period.
How Do You Earn Rewards in Spellborne Season 2?
In Season 2, players have to collect as many airdrop points as they can to earn more $BORNE. The official announcement states that 5% of the token’s total supply is set to be distributed this season across 3 categories: Gameplay Rewards, Store Rewards, and Creator Rewards.
To earn from the Gameplay Rewards category, you’ll need to compete in PvP Leagues and do quests from the taskboard. Login every day to check-in, capture monsters, and complete the taskboard every day to earn gameplay points. The same points are also earned by having a high ELO in Badged Leagues. Taskboard rewards are set to change to profession EXP once Professions officially launch. Overall, if you want to earn a bigger airdrop, you will want to earn gameplay points, as gameplay rewards “will have a considerable weightage to reward active players.”
Store Rewards however do also have “considerable weightage” in order to reward both spenders and verified creators. Basically, you can earn store points by buying season passes and chests from the in-game store. Points are also earned even for gifting those purchases to other players. If you use a creator code from a Verified Creator, that creator will earn 25% worth of points from the amount spent.
If you like creating content, then you might also want to hop into the Creator Rewards category. Create game-related content on Twitter/X and the game’s official profile or use the hashtag #SpellborneCreate for a chance to earn more airdrop points. If the game’s account likes your tweet, that post officially becomes eligible to earn points, with 1 point per view earned only within the first 18 hours. You can also stream to earn NFTs by being among the top 5 video creators on Twitch or YouTube. More details on that as well as guidelines for Create-to-Earn participation can be found at the end of the official announcement.
You can play to airdrop in Spellborne for free by playing the game on web browsers using a Google or Apple account. No exact TGE date for the cross-chain $BORNE token is available at the time of writing.
