Eden Games, an Animoca Brands subsidiary, has announced that Cosmic Royale is officially launching on Steam and the Epic Games Store in the form of a Season 0 prologue on December 12th. Here’s everything you need to know about the game and this exclusive early access period that you can jump into for free by downloading the game on Windows through one of the two PC platforms.
What Is Cosmic Royale?
Cosmic Royale is a karting battle royale party game in which up to 40 players race their way through a variety of obstacle-ridden tracks to try and be the last racer standing. It’s set in a sci-fi world with gameplay inspired by party games such as Fall Guys, except here you race to the finish line using a customizable kart. You will be able to personalize both your kart and driver as well, while unlocking new karts, drivers, and more cosmetics to get the style of appearance that you prefer the most.
The free to play title was previously possible to test and earn Realm Points in throughout its exclusive beta release earlier this year, but playing that one required owning a Moca ID. Now, the game is set to officially open its doors for everyone to enjoy, including the wider gaming community. Players don’t need to know anything about blockchain to enjoy the game, as anything web3-related seems to take place outside the game itself. Primarily, the chaotic karting experience is part of the Motorverse, a blockchain-powered ecosystem of web3 racing games that’s also backed by Animoca Brands, and even works in collaboration with Lamborghini. Other than that, any blockchain integration into the game itself does not seem to have been unveiled at the time of writing.
What’s Included in Season 0 of Cosmic Royale?
In Season 0, which runs from December 12th to January 13th, 2025, players will be able to race through 13 unique tracks across 3 different gameplay modes:
- A to B Race
- Survival Game
- Mortal Race
A to B Race is about getting to the end of the track as fast as you can while there are still any remaining slots, while Survival Game tests your endurance as you try to be amongst the last surviving players to win the hectic mode. Not much was revealed about Mortal Race, but it looks like you won’t want to make any mess ups while playing it, as just one error will get you disqualified.
You will be able to race as one of 2 different characters: Azimut the Slime, and Powehi the Blackhole. The first one is available for free and includes customizable colors, while the latter is unlocked through the Founders Pass.
The Founders Pass is the exclusive Season 0 Cosmic Pass through which you can earn exclusive rewards that will never appear in upcoming seasons ever again. Next to unlocking Powehi the Blackhole, this battle pass should have 23 unique items to customize your kart with. While the price of the Founders Pass is currently unknown, completing it is said to earn you back the cost in hard currency.
This season in general should overall include 3 different karts, 2 drivers, more than 70 kart customization items, and 25 banner items such as avatars, custom titles, and backgrounds to earn.
The tracks you’ll be racing in range from climbing to the top of the tower and navigating rotating platforms to switching gravity zones, avoiding cosmic mud, and speeding away from some dark matter. Learn more about the tracks in this official overview.
Why Season 0?
The Lyon-based studio has decided that it would be best to have a preliminary season in order to “shape the game with the community,” according to an official Medium post. By gathering player feedback during this season and seeing how you engage with the game, the developers will be able to better prepare for Season 1 and for future seasons as well, so your participation and suggestions throughout this early season are invaluable to helping the team improve upon the gameplay experience in every way.

Season 1 Plans
According to the roadmap on the game’s official website, Season 1 of Cosmic Royale will launch in January 2025 and introduce 8 new tracks, 4 new karts, 2 new drivers, 150 customization items, 45 new banner items, 12 new kart horns, and a new Cosmic Pass with 45 unique items. The ability to invite friends to play with together will also be introduced, and so will a new solo progression system and a new game mode called The Scoring Zone, where you have to stay in a certain zone long enough to qualify.
