20 August 2024 – KOR Protocol, the entertainment IP Infrastructure backed by Animoca Brands, today announced KOR Player, a new platform that enables developers to access IP based digital merchandise and incorporate globally recognised licensed music through its dynamic AI music engine. Animoca Brands and Pixelynx, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands co-founded by industry executives, DJs and producers such as Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5, Richie Hawtin aka Plastkman, Inder Phull, Ben Turner and Dean Wilson, are launch partners of KOR Protocol. KOR Player is now available for developers, and interested developers can request early access and technical documents of KOR Player by completing the signup form.
The launch of KOR Player introduces features that enable users and builders to play, create and remix music by integrating with a suite of tools including the IP Vault where artists can upload their music and the KOR AI Engine which gives developers access to a growing library of sounds and generative AI functionality, authenticated through the KOR Protocol. Artists are also eligible for onchain royalties and rewards through KOR Protocol’s blockchain technology and its native IP Token.
For artists, KOR Player facilitates direct distribution into games through dynamic licensing, royalty tracking and payments, all of which utilize the KOR Protocol’s IP Token. Artists and labels are rewarded for their contribution, while developers are given the freedom to innovate without traditional licensing barriers.
KOR Player is built on the KOR Protocol and aims to tackle a gray area around music copyright laws and the use of unlicensed IP in video games, live-streams, esports broadcasts and other channels which draw a large audience, whilst giving artists and labels new distribution channels to reach fans and monetize their work.
As an entertainment protocol, KOR Protocol seeks to reshape how IP is managed, protected, distributed and monetized. The protocol enabled the creation of the first fan-generated songs on the mau5trap Mixtape, a series of remixes and videos that generated over 100,000 AI user-generated songs.
KOR Player will be made available as an SDK for developers to integrate within their projects, so they can launch music and IP-based digital experiences seamlessly.
KOR Protocol has seen over 550,000 user signups to date, including via KORUS and the Black Mirror experience. Its partnerships include Japanese telecommunications giant KDDI, which integrates KOR Player with KDDI’s “αU on cloud” service, enabling direct distribution of generative AI music into AR and metaverse experiences. Reaching over 65 million potential users, KDDI will be able to seamlessly incorporate high-quality AI music into AR experiences, facilitate virtual live concerts and interactive events, setting new standards for AI content creation and distribution. Other partners integrating the KOR Player include Darewise Entertainment, OPAL Protocol, and Motorverse.
Inder Phull, Creator of KOR Protocol, said: “KOR Player aims to transform how developers access and integrate licensed songs and generative AI music into their platforms. Our previously announced partnerships with KDDI and Motorverse are only the beginning. KOR Player provides a seamless solution that handles consumption, rights management and automated royalty distribution, allowing developers to focus on creating immersive experiences without worrying about licensing complexities. This collaboration ensures transparency and fairness in the use of music IP, benefiting both developers and artists.”
