Forgotten Runiverse Launches New Foundations Open Beta

Ronin-powered free to play fantasy MMORPG Forgotten Runiverse is now officially live in open beta until September 7th with a host of new features for both returning players and newcomers to enjoy.

What’s New in Open Beta?

Titled New Foundations, this open beta release is playable through web browsers both on mobile and desktop, with the link to the game included in the official announcement tweet. Playing requires setting up an account the web2 way, so an email address and username is all that you’ll need to start blockchain gaming in this web3 title. Before completing the registration process, you will be asked if you want to connect your Ronin wallet. While this is optional, you will eventually need to connect one anyways if you want to make use of play to earn features for a more complete web3 gaming experience.

Mana Earning Referral System

Once you’re in, you can start your new top-down pixelated journey by making use of the new Mana earning referral system. Mana is an in-game resource used for mintable rewards, and you can get 50 Mana for each referral that just creates an account using the referral link that you can find your character selection screen. Another 50 Mana is awarded when a friend finishes the in-game tutorial, and their activity further rewards you with 500 Mana when they end up reaching level 20. The blockchain game lets players buy 4 different Mana Packs, and for each tier your referrals buy, you get a certain percentage of Mana from their purchase, with only the referral’s first purchase of that tier rewarding you with Mana.

Mintable Rewards

During this public beta, players can exchange Mana at the Font of Memories to get mintable rewards. By asking for a blessing at the Font of Memories using at least 50 Mana, you stand a chance of receiving gold, Mana, various materials, Builder’s Crates and Land Plots. You’re guaranteed a rare reward for every 10th blessing you ask for, while each 250th blessing is rewarded with a Seal of Tenure, which is used as proof of land ownership in this crypto game.

Reward Cards & Donuts

If getting referrals isn’t quite your thing and you’d much rather actually play to earn, then you can look forward to getting reward cards from in-game activities that include daily logins, daily quests, and progression through the main questline. With enough reward cards, you can unlock one of 3 chests by trading your cards with the Chieftain at the Bugbear Temple to get Donut Rewards.

Speaking of Donuts, this release also marks the integration of the Donut Points System. In the Runiverse, Donuts represent points earned from quests and daily logins, but also from redeeming reward cards at the Bugbear Temple. This temple can be found on the Donuts’ own official website where you can sign up and connect your wallet to start earning daily Donuts by simply clicking on the dazzling Donut icon. You can also see your daily quest progress, adventure quest progress, as well as your daily reward card and Donut earnings. By completing a daily quest, you get to enter a jackpot for that day where 30 lucky winners earn more Donuts. Completing 13 daily quests in a row though lets you enter the final ultimate Donut jackpot, with specific reward distribution details not available at the time of writing. So what’s the point of Donuts? Nobody knows. But it looks like they’re quite important – there’s even a whole cinematic trailer on this system, so you should probably stack as many of them as you can for what will probably be some kind of airdrop. You can check that trailer out here and read the thread part of it to find out more ways to earn Donuts before the mystery is resolved.

Dungeons & Interior Decoration

Next to all this, the New Foundations introduces Dungeons, which represent story-driven end-game content that is designed for up to 4 players. These Dungeons are said to contain “exclusive rewards that you won’t find anywhere else.” The rewards include new legendary equipment sets.

Alongside Dungeons, this public event also introduces the interior decoration feature, allowing players to craft unique decoration while having more ways to customize their home. Both public and private plots now have new Gathering Stations that players can use to collect rare materials, with private plots being the only spaces through which you can get a valuable material called Alabaster that you will need to complete a specific quest.

The level limit has been raised to a level 20 cap, while 4 new spells have been added alongside various quality of life updates and bug fixes.

Overall, if you’re looking to explore a cute pixelated world solo or with your friends while completing quests, engaging in turn-based combat, crafting, minting, and trading on-chain items, and more, then this open beta release of Forgotten Runiverse is one you will likely enjoy playing. For full details on this public event, you can check out the latest announcement from the game’s official blog.
