Gods Unchained Sees Major Revamp with Divine Order Expansion

In a span of two weeks, Gods Unchained released new game formats twice, once from 20th August to 22nd August, which is now over. The second release is still ongoing as it started on 26th August and will end on 30th August, as per the information available on the Discord channel. These new formats are time-limited events, allowing players to create unique card decks while ensuring the God Powers maintain their iterations. Read on to learn more about the new formats, DPE Restructuring, and Patches.

An Overview of What Went in the First Formats Game Mode

Formats in Gods Unchained are time-limited events with a separate ruleset that is unique to the respective event. The rulesets are set by the developers, and they determine the cards players can use during the event, and what decks are allowed, and it can also include new gameplay mechanics. So, a format has a mix of restrictions and freedoms that players must utilize strategically to win big.

In the past two weeks, Gods Unchained held two Formats game modes. The first format game was held between 21 August 2024 07:30 to 23 August 2024 07:30. Named Flashback: Divine Order, this format allowed players to use cards from the following decks;

  1. Welcome
  2. Core
  3. Genesis
  4. Etherbots
  5. Trial of the Gods
  6. Divine Order

Ideally, the developers plan to run the formats from Sunday till Thursday. Since this is the first one and there are a lot of new technologies and mechanics at play, the developers wanted to be extra cautious, which is a good step.

Players participating in the first Formats game mode had to play with the following rules;

  • The current player seed rank is applied to the Formats mode.
  • Progress players made in the Formats mode is reflected in the normal game.
  • Players with a seed rank of 7 and above were allowed to play.
  • All eligible players won’t be demoted to below rank 7 until they are in the Formats mode.
  • Players cannot use the promo cards in this game mode.
  • The DPE modifier is activated, taking the number up to 1.5.

The two days of Flashback: Divine Order went better than expected, but there were some issues. The developers resolved a couple of bugs and also made some adjustments to DPE fragments.

The Second Format of Flashback Divine Order

Gods Unchained players can once again enjoy Formats game mode as it relaunched on 26 August 2024 at 07:30 PT and will run till 30 August 2024 at 07:30 PT. While all the rules are the same as it was with the first format, there’s a new challenge.

Players are now encouraged to flaunt their decks in God’s Unchained Discord No Access channel. They have to build decks from Welcome, Core, Genesis, Etherbots, Trial of the Gods, and Divine Order card sets focusing on strategy-making skills.

In the channel, @Jammy will check all the decks and choose a winning deck. The winner of this challenge will receive the Divine Order Champion crown and become a permanent member of Format’s Wall of Fame.

This is not the only game mode; Gods Unchained also has different gameplays, including the Standard format and Weekend Ranked Mode.

The New DPE Modifier System Introduced with New Formats

The Daily Play Earnings (DPE) is a system that represents how many fragments a player earns after winning a match. An activated DPE Modifier represents an increase or decrease in the winnings, and it has two major uses;

  • The modifier can help players increase their winnings in a short time.
  • It can also help developers bring a balance to the game and prevent players from winning too many fragments conveniently.

Before moving ahead, let’s understand how DPE is calculated in the game. Two variables play an important role in DPE calculation: the Gameplay Modifier and the Deck Modifier.

Gameplay Modifier is motivated by a player’s rank and current win streak. Naturally, players with a higher rank and a longer winning streak will have a higher Gameplay Modifier.

On the other hand, Deck Modifiers are determined by the quality of deck cards. Higher-quality cards have a better role in contributing to determining the modifier value.

Both the modifiers are weighted equally and combined to create a single modifier, which is then applied to the game as a base reward when winning the game. So, DPE Modifier in Formats game mode inspires players to improve their gameplay and card collections.

In the Formats, the DPE Modifier works as follows;

  1. Value of Mythics: Pertaining to the Deck Modifier, the value of Mythics has increased from 125 to 250, primarily because these are the rarest cards in the Gods Unchained universe.
  2. Earnings After Rank 7: Players won’t earn fragments until and unless they are at 7th rank or higher. This is done to prevent bots below 7th rank from taking over the game and to reward dedicated players.
  3. Tweaks in Rank Modifier:
    • Rank 1-6 = 0
    • Rank 7 = .12
    • Rank 8 = .25
    • Rank 9 = .48
    • Rank 10 = .74
    • Rank 11 = .90
    • Rank 12 = 1.0

These changes mean when a player wants to maximize their DPE fragments winnings, they must eye for the highest rank. They also imply that average-sized wins at a higher rank are more beneficial than frequent wins at a lower rank.

Dread Awakening’s Final Patch

Last week, Gods Unchained developers shared the final patch for Dread Awakening. The last patch has brought changes to Dreadtouch mechanics and some key improvements.

This is the last patch because Dread Awakening has a unique design space for GU. Since this design is different from others, the last changes are done to smooth out the few rough edges. From the next similar events, the developers will be focusing on a different and more resonant design thematic for the future.

Gods Unchained has evolved into a massive universe with multiple events and mechanics being executed simultaneously. The recent additions in the form of Formats and design changes represent new additions and customizations made for the player’s benefit.
