Immutable-backed and Seedify-incubated third-person shooter Domenation is heading into a Halloween-themed beta on Monday, October 28th, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy new features while completing quests to earn exclusive rewards.
What’s New in Domenation’s Halloween-Themed Beta?
According to a recent X announcement, the latest beta build will be accessible from October 28th to November 1st, and will feature a new mode, new map, new skin, a new companion, and various prizes to earn.
The new game mode you’ll be able to enjoy is called Deathclock, and based on the gameplay footage shown in the trailer down below, it looks like players will get to enjoy a unique time-sensitive battle royale mode where you’ll have to ‘fight’ time to survive by taking down other players. Both players and time itself are your enemies, and if the timer reaches 0, it’s game over, requiring you to attack other players to steal time in order to outlast everyone and win the match.
According to the beta page on the game’s official website, a powerful Pulse will also appear every few minutes in the new mode, engulfing the whole map and impacting everyone outside the Domes. You’ll want to find safety by heading to one of the Domes that appear from time to time across various parts of the map. Staying in these Domes slows down the timer, giving you an opportunity to survive for longer. If you’re outside a Dome while a Pulse is going on, you will lose your time quickly, based on details on the game’s official store pages. Everyone starts off with 5 minutes, and the longer the match lasts, the fewer Domes will appear, eventually leading to only one final Dome popping up to settle the winner in intense PvP combat. Further spicing up this time-based competitive gameplay are enemy creatures called Mutants, so combine that with the Pulse, PvP, and time mechanics, and it looks like each match will be quite a thrilling, action-packed blockchain gaming experience!
Next to the new game mode is also a new map called Nexus: The Pumpkin Garden, and you can get a glimpse of this spooky area that is said to be “full of surprises” in the trailer below. The announcement on Steam further mentions that the map brings exclusive seasonal skins and “hidden references that will give you chills.” Speaking of skins, it’s been revealed that a new exclusive Halloween skin called Bippieween is also included for this beta, and so is the ‘First Fren,” a new Pawl-type creature acting as your in-game companion. These creatures come with various different support and time-related abilities. The first Fren is designed to remind you about the countdown timer. Different types of Frens with ‘innovative mechanics’ will be added in the future.
As you take part in this 4-day playtest, you will get to complete a variety of special quests and time-limited challenges. Doing so will be rewarded with exclusive prizes, including the new Bippieween skin, and various special titles. More specific details have not been revealed at the time of writing, but the Bippieween skin will only be possible to earn during this Halloween event, after which “it’s gone forever.”
How to Join Domenation Halloween Beta
Initially announced as a closed beta that required filling in a Google form linked in an X post from earlier this month, it looks like developer Blackmouth Games has changed it to more of a public beta instead, meaning anyone can try the new game mode for free by heading to the UE5 game’s Steam store page and requesting access to the playtest that will be available for Windows PCs. If you request access before the playtest goes live, you are likely good to go.
Given that this beta is only taking place on Steam, there will be no blockchain-powered features to use. As such, all the rewards are off-chain items as well, and it’s currently unclear if it will be possible to mint them on-chain in the future. All the prizes you earn now however will carry over to the official free to play launch, which will take place on Steam and the Epic Games Store, but also on blockchain gaming launchers that include Ultra, Elixir, and HyperPlay. As the studio is planning on having a blockchain-powered in-game economy where players can own their assets (according to their Discord FAQ), hopefully that means players will be able to link their accounts to other platforms for any potential future play and earn features.
You can already wishlist Domenation across all 5 gaming platforms, with the links to all of them available on this dedicated page of the official website.
