Free to play blockchain trading card game Parallel TCG has started off this month with the launch of Open Beta Season 9: Collective Triumph, introducing new rewards to earn through a new Battle Pass while gearing up for the upcoming Aftermath expansion.
What’s New in Parallel TCG Open Beta Season 9?
The latest season introduces a new Battle Pass with new cosmetics and a new playable Kathari rare card: Killbox. This is an Effect type card that costs 5 Energy to use during a match, and deploying it lets friendly units get +1/+0, but only for the units that you control during the same turn the card is placed.
When it comes to cosmetics, there is 1 new Paragon Skin, 1 Card Back, and 1 Card Frame, available exclusively through this season’s Battle Pass. There is also a new Title achievement called “Crashing Wave” that is awarded by making your way to Battle Pass Level 33. Level up by winning matches and completing daily and weekly missions.
If you took part in last season and minted or bought the First Edition [FE] version of Merciless Bulwark during that timeframe, and if you’re still holding the cards in your wallet when the snapshot takes place on November 8th, 00:00 UTC, you should be automatically placed in a raffle that gives you a chance of winning the Special Edition [SE], Perfect Loop [PL], or Masterpiece [MP] of Merciless Bulwark. It seems like each First Edition Merciless Bulwark card you own acts as an entry ticket to the raffle, giving you a potentially better chance of winning one of the other 3 editions. If you end up being among the winners, your prize will be sent to your wallet automatically. For those who haven’t claimed or purchased their Merciless Bulwark yet, you have time until the snapshot takes place to do so. Anyone interested can purchase Merciless Bulwark cards in the Parallel Battle Pass Cards [Base] collection on OpenSea, where the ERC-1155 NFT has a floor price of 0.0049 ETH on Base at the time of writing.
Next to the Merciless Bulwark raffle, there will also be a Special Edition and Masterpiece raffle for the new card, Killbox. For that raffle, Parallel Studios plans on revealing more info at the end of the season.
That’s all so far for this season, with the blog post teasing that more patch notes are on the way in which we’ll learn more about the upcoming Aftermath expansion set.
When Is the Parallel TCG Aftermath Expansion Releasing?
As this season should last the whole month like past seasons have, you can look forward to the expansion releasing in-game near the end of the month, likely on November 25th. The Aftermath Drop, which is the actual sale of Aftermath cards, is planned to take place on November 23rd. These cards should be available for purchase in packs.
Since August and onwards, the developers have been consistently posting tweets of the new cards that are set to be included in the latest expansion. Almost every day, there has been a new tweet dedicated to one card, showing the artwork and a short description, while encouraging the community to retweet for a chance at winning an Aftermath pack. To date, there’s been more than 50+ cards unveiled through regular tweets so far, but info on how each of these cards work has been kept a secret.
At the beginning of this month, the team posted an X thread revealing that the expansion will contain “a variety of Supply Cache tokens.” The thread goes on to show images and names for 5 types of Supply Caches, but what their actual utility in Parallel TCG is has not yet been revealed.
Aside from launch dates, the quality card art coupled with bits of lore, and the mysterious crates, details on things such as pricing are currently not available, but it probably won’t be long before a new announcement explains everything you need to know about the Aftermath expansion. If everything goes to plan, this will mark the web3 game’s second major expansion set this year, following the release of the Planetfall expansion for Open Beta Season 3 back in March.
Back in September, YGG partnered with Parallel TCG to host a $100k tournament at the YGG Play Summit, which is actually happening later this month. In September, Parallel Studios also announced Project Ceti, a new third-person shooter set in the same sci-fi universe. Quite an eventful year for this blockchain-powered gaming franchise!
