In the latest turn of unfortunate events, Today Game’s Limbo’s much-anticipated launch was thwarted by a series of unfortunate events. Expected to hit the mainstream on 28th November 2024, $LIMBO ran into unanticipated leaks, outside actors interfering, and bot exploits. While the reason behind the series of events is unknown, the development team and Today Game’s CEO, Michael O’Connor, took full responsibility for the unfortunate events. However, the team agrees to come back even stronger and work for the betterment of the community while addressing the key concerns.
Acknowledging Missteps with Limbo’s Launch
Co-founder and CEO of Today Game shared an enthusiastic post about AI agent LIMBO’s capabilities and potential, which was supposed to create the hype for the token launch. But in another tweet, posted on 29th November, the CEO shared dismay over the unfortunate events that unfolded during the token launch.
Specifically, the launch failed to address the community’s preferences and opinions, which was not taken in good stead by the community. Acknowledging the missteps by the management and the fact that the launch was disrupted by AI bots and leaks, the CEO also shared the next steps they aim to take for the betterment of the community.
Making it Up to the Community
$LIMBO token launched in the past week before the LIMBO AI agent was unveiled for the community.
“Our mission has always been to put the community first, and this time, we fell short—no two ways about it. To those saying that 2% was a poor allocation for the community, you’re right. We chose those numbers, thinking it would help drive virality and momentum. But the truth is, we should have focused on ensuring our community was properly taken care of first. That was a mistake, and we take full responsibility for it. For us, this has always been about building at the intersection of cultural movements that excite us: Crypto x AI x Gaming, while here, also embracing meme culture.”
The above statement is a part of the post shared by the CEO. Some percentage of the community supported the platform’s initiative but others were not at all happy with the mistakes made by the team.
Acknowledging the harsh criticism given by the community, the Today Game team has decided to let go of their token share and redistribute it to the community. So, the community’s share has increased from 2% to 6%.
In addition to increasing the community’s share, the team will continue building on the platform; here are some additional steps that will follow;
- Today Game team is building a browser platform enabling everyone to create their own agents, adding to the fun and utility elements.
- Limbo, after its successful launch, will continue to stream, evolve, and showcase its capabilities through autonomous decision-making and engagement with the community.
All the damage control and development steps taken by the team will feed into each other and provide better value to the ecosystem.
In addition to the Today Game’s team acknowledging their mistakes, an X user came to the defense. The user believes leaving out the community during the launch wasn’t a deliberate mistake by Limbo’s team as the team behind are not traders, but a group of innovative builders.
Limbo’s Capabilities and Possibilities
Limbo can now post on X, stream on Twitch, and interact with the community through both platforms. It can chat with the users in real time and ensure everyone’s questions, opinions, and perspectives are addressed.
The existing capabilities might be limited and inhibited by the recent unfortunate events. But since the team has brought Limbo back on track, the future possibilities of the AI agent include;
- Cross-platform streaming where the AI agent will stream continuously on other social media and networking platforms like TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. Limbo will respond to comments on these platforms as well.
- Limbo will run live streams while exploring the island home, which will give the community a real-time view of the game’s island. This will be done to enhance their interest in the game and create hype.
- As Limbo aims to become an AI pop star, the autonomous agent will also share AI-generated music and increase fan following.
