Ascend The End Alpha, a post-apocalyptic web3 game, met with initial excitement as several players with shared access codes jumped to test the game for the first time. Pre Alpha release is done with the purpose of gaining insights into first-hand experiences and valuable feedback from a pre-selected community. Initial games did express some concerns about the gameplay, especially when some players didn’t get starting items. It’s become a learning experience for the game developers, making the Alpha release a success.
Recap of the Closed Alpha Release
The recent Closed Alpha saw 5000 players competing to win 200 Genesis NFTs, offering exclusive benefits and perks to the players. Beginning from August 1, the players experience gameplay issues from day one. While some players failed to receive their starting kit due to a bug (including their Exosuit), others lost credits due to a bug in mining rig usage.
The Closed Alpha was supposed to help players gain a first-hand experience of the game, participate in Test to Airdrop, and complete several other missions. Their experiences and feedback are supposed to help developers build a better game.
To join Closed Alpha, players needed an access code. One of the players live streamed their gameplay in the launch campaign. In addition to two major bugs, players also reported smaller bugs like;
- Distortion on the screen during reload and firing.
- Hidden crates aren’t opening.
- The mining rate can be upgraded for free, which isn’t supposed to happen.
As compensation for the bugs in the game, developers decided to postpone Season Selection to 19th August. At the same time, minting is also postponed until after Season Selection. Moreover, until Season Selection is back, the developers launched the Head Hunter Challenge.
The Head Hunter Challenge
Players are supposed to take down as many NPCs as possible in the Head Hunter Challenge. Starting from 9th August, the challenge ran until 18th August, and players were supposed to record their gameplay and post it on X (Twitter) while tagging @AscendtheEnd. Plus, share the gameplay link on Discord. Participating and winning the challenge brought rewards like game passes, minting spots, and in-game assets.
Here’s what was supposed to happen if the game went on smoothly:
The Alpha season, which was supposed to run for 14 days, from August 1 to August 14, was postponed given that all the bugs are fixed. Named “Operation: Nourish the Front,” asked players to scavenge the available land for resources, and raid each other’s bases individually or together as a team.
Players also fight for a better spot on the leaderboard. The game’s in-built AI program will recognize a team of mighty heroes who will help protect mankind from complete extinction. Naturally players with a better position will have more opportunities to earn $ASCEND tokens and other rewards.
Built on Unreal Engine 4, players experienced a smooth gameplay with plenty of customization options to build their Exosuit as required. Throughout the Closed Alpha phase, the developers were online and taking in live feedback from the community. This shows their dedication to building everyone can enjoy with zero hiccups.
Recent Development and Changes in Ascend The End
Given the fact that the initial phase of the game was riddled with bugs, the developers, in order to know more about user experience launched a Bug Bounty Event. The event, while increasing player volume, will also help developers know all the major and minor bugs. Reporting bugs means players are eligible to earn rewards.
In order to increase footfall in the game, developers asked existing players to bring more users to the platform and earn rewards. To join the affiliate program, players need to get their unique code and promote it among their audience and subscriber base on social media, blogs, and live streams. As rewards, users will get 10% of the credit rewards their referrals gather, and they will also get 5% of the value from future purchases made by the referrals.
Announcements Made in the Recently Concluded AMA (21st August)
- The Headhunter challenge is extended until 2nd September.
- The updated Season Selected start date is 2nd September.
- In Season Selection, raiders can now invite one other person.
It was also announced that the development team brought in new developers to accelerate the development process.
Ascend The End | Narrative, Gameplay, and eSport
The game is set in the 2200s amidst an unrecognizable world, and two opposing sides (Alliance and Confederation) indulged in a world-ending war that left an uninhabitable rock, which also represents the boundary between the Eastern and Western hemispheres.
Unlike other PvP and PvE games, Ascend the End uses AI within the game to protect and save humanity from extinction. There are seven types of characters in the game, including GAID (AI model), Angels (Enforcer), Police AI (Enforcer), FER Ai (Enlightened Cluster), Scavengers (Survivors), Zealots (Followers of Angels), Raiders (Militants), and autonomous AI robots. The game represents the merger of the Extraction and Battle Royale genres.
The storyline, narrative, and gameplay of Ascend the End lead to a competitive journey where developers, players, and the entire community collaborate to forward a single narrative. While doing so, everyone gets a chance to win and earn while reducing all sorts of speculation and creating an advanced esports experience.
As a part of eSports events, players can participate in different types of events, including tournaments and challenges. The ultimate goal of the game is to take the player to Heaven City, the 7th and final island on the map.
Players reaching the pinnacle of the game are expected to receive an exclusive NFT trophy and a handsome token reward. However, every match is carefully designed with the help of AI to ensure that your customers will participate in an equal match.
Set in a post-apocalyptic time, Ascend the End is a blockchain based web3 game where players fight each other to survive and earn rewards.
