The first phase of the economy launch for blockchain sandbox MMORPG WorldShards is now live in the form of the Trials event that comes packed with more than $100k+ worth of rewards to play and earn!
What Is the WorldShards Trials Event?
The Trials event is a pre-test phase for the launch of the game’s very own token, for which there is no TGE date yet. Through this event, the developers aim to test the mechanics of rewarding the token before the cryptocurrency is fully functional, in order to catch any major issues and thus make sure the web3-powered economy runs smoothly without any problems once the token is actually live. It gives players the opportunity to see what the full experience will actually be like, and thus room to provide constructive feedback before the actual token is put into place.
This event started on November 18th at 1 PM UTC and will end on December 9th at 1 PM UTC.
How It Works
To test things out and avoid future headaches, the event is using Shards Fragments as a replacement for the upcoming token. These test tokens are dropped by enemies you defeat on Wild Islands, and you need them to rank your way to the top of the leaderboard, which rewards you with Trial Coins based on your ranking. Trial Coins is the exclusive event currency that you will be able to use to redeem valuable NFT rewards at the special merchant Flea. This NFT prize pool is said to be worth over $100k+ in total. It includes Islands of different sizes and rarities, as well as Artifacts of varying rarity, as seen in the below image. As such, the amount of Trial Coins needed to redeem a certain prize can vary.
Before you go out killing enemies on Wild Islands to collect as many Shards Fragments as you can, you will have to use your Workbench to charge your collectible item in the special Collection tab. Once you enter Wild Islands, the game will let you confirm the charges, giving you the ‘Attraction Force’ buff which lets you gain Shards Fragments from the enemies you destroy. How strong the Attraction Force effect is can actually vary based on the Luck Charge and the Luck stat of your items. The rarer the item and the rarer the artifact used to charge your collectible, the better the value of Attraction Force.
How Are WorldShards Trial Coins Distributed?
Since the event revolves around collecting Shards Fragments from defeated enemies, which is easier for players with higher-quality equipment and better Attraction Force buff, the developers have decided to divide players into different Leagues in order to make the distribution of Trial Coins fairer for everyone.
There are a total of 5 different Leagues: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
These Leagues are said to be based on the “maximum index of the Attraction Force buff.” Basically, players with rarer equipment and artifacts can have higher Luck and Luck Charge, which can lead to a higher Attraction Force score. The higher the score, the better the League that you qualify for. Even if you go on an adventure a couple of times with an Attraction Force score belonging to the Epic League, it will only take one journey with a better score to get yourself placed in the Legendary League, based on the example given by the developers.
The number of Trial Coins up for grabs per League varies, and while each League has 30 available positions, the Legendary League has only 15 spots. Every League is also guaranteed to reward you with a certain number of Trial Coins if you collect the specified number of Shards Fragments and rank in the top 50% on the leaderboard.

If you’re new to WorldShards, you can get started by purchasing a welcome bundle linked in the event launch tweet. The bundle costs $40 on Open Loot and gives you a non-tradable key that allows you to access the game, alongside 2500 Gems, a premium currency used for crafting various items as you defeat enemies across islands that have a chance of dropping NFTs.
