Mint Valannia Legions Call Combat Units on November 28th

Solana-powered fantasy gaming universe Valannia is having a new NFT mint this week on Thursday, November 28th at 8 PM UTC through its own official marketplace. This event, referred to as Legions Call, will allow the web3 gaming community to mint a variety of Combat Units from various different races. Here’s everything you need to know!

What Is Legions Call in Valannia?

Legions Call is the wave-based release of 6 types of Combat Unit NFTs that players will be able to use across the Valannia ecosystem. According to the summary of Aseembly VIII, a monthly event in which the team makes various announcements, these units are “essential for strategy and progression within the Valannia universe,” making this upcoming mint an important one for the future of the IP’s UE5-powered MMORTS world.

It was previously teased in a 2024 roadmap that it would launch in Q3 this year, but seems to have been delayed to this month instead. With just a few days left before the sale finally takes place, here’s everything you need to know about how the mint works so you’re ready to get your hands on these crucial assets to enjoy a strategic blockchain gaming experience.

How Does the NFT Mint for Valannia Combat Units Work?

Anyone interested in acquiring these playable Combat Unit NFTs will be able to do so through 2 types of orbs: Tier I Orbs, and Tier II Orbs. Each type is available in limited supply, with the Tier II being the rarer and pricier one. Every orb will give you a random unit, with the drop rates varying based on the type of orb. The more expensive orb will have better chances of dropping a rarer unit.

These orbs will be available in limited supply on the homepage of the ecosystem’s official market. By connecting your wallet there, you will have an opportunity to participate in Wave 1 on November 28th at 8 PM UTC, where there will be 200 Tier I Orbs and 100 Tier II Orbs up for grabs on a FCFS basis. Based on details revealed in Assembly VIII, these units are exclusively available through these orbs, but it looks like Legions Call will not include the whole total supply of units.

The price of both tiers of orbs differs depending on the wave you buy them in. There will be at least 4 waves to buy orbs in, with the first wave featuring a 30% discount, meaning that the price of Tier I Orbs is $24.5, while minting Tier II Orbs costs $56 per NFT. These prices increase in the following waves due to the discount decreasing, with Wave 4 having no discount. The number of orbs available in each wave seems to stay the same though. The developers might launch more than 4 waves depending on demand.

Combat Units come in 6 different types: Infantry, Ranged, Tank, Cavalry, Fighter, and Colossus. They also come in 5 different rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, and Mythic. The lowest rarity, Common, is excluded from Tier II Orbs, increasing the chances of getting rarer units from the more expensive lootbox.

The world of Valannia is comprised of 8 different races, and you will have an opportunity to mint an orb containing a unit from any of these factions. Each race has 8 different units that vary not only in name, rarity and type, but also in supply and Troop Points (TP). Troop Points are used to form your team of units, with each unit costing a certain number of TP. Every player will have a total of 50 TP to use for setting up their army, limiting the kind of units you want to use in battle, but in turn encouraging players to come up with various strategies suited to their playstyle while also setting up the most effective tactic against the opponent at hand in the PvP-focused game mode, Valannia Arena. This mode is set to release in closed alpha this Q4 2024 for Valannium Ring holders, with a full launch planned for 2025, when players will be able to play to earn various prizes.

You can check out the list of units for each race in this PDF that’s also linked on the mint page. To see some of the units animated in 3D, check out the embedded video in the announcement date tweet.

After this sale is over, a staking system should go live in which owners of Combat Units can send out their warriors on adventures to gather various resources. Currently, owners of Origin Heroes and Heroes Beyond can send out their assets to Valannia Realms, a browser-based staking game, to collect resources and level up their NFTs to make them stronger for the universe’s upcoming strategy MMO. Players can buy and sell heroes for $SOL through the ecosystem’s official marketplace, as well as on Magic Eden.
