Back in July, a proposal was put forward to the Splinterlands community suggesting an overhaul of the Voucher system. The proposal successfully passed, and now, the developers are implementing the changes mentioned in it over to the Hive-based blockchain trading card game on August 15th. What are the changes? Let’s find out!
What’s Included in the Revamp of the Voucher System?
The overhaul is designed to simplify the Voucher system in order to deliver a more streamlined experience that makes it easier for new players to take part in this game’s ecosystem. As a result, Vouchers are no longer complex as before, and the liquidity pools have been reworked accordingly.
This means that, starting from August 15th, Voucher rewards from Validator and SPS staking will go straight in-game instead of distributing them to the SPS Chain. This removes the extra step of transferring rewards to in-game, and basically combines the SPS Chain Voucher and in-game VOUCHER-G into one in-game token. However, this also means that there won’t be any rewards for the Voucher/SPS Hive-Engine liquidity pool anymore.
Trading Vouchers on decentralized exchanges will no longer be possible. As a result, Vouchers from DEXs such as Tribaldex and Hive Engine can only be transferred to the Web3 title, but Vouchers in-game cannot be transferred outside to decentralized exchanges. By making this change, the team is able to set up an in-game liquidity pool and properly comply with regulatory requirements.
Voucher-based discounts for Validator licenses are becoming a thing of the past on August 15th to give more utility to Dark Energy Crystals (DEC). You’ll also have until August 31st to buy Wild Passes and Mage Weapons using Vouchers.
The final noteworthy date is September 3rd, as that day will mark the end of energy purchases with Vouchers, as well as the end of Voucher-based discounts for Rebellion booster packs. Balancing out this change is an adjustment in the price of Rebellion booster packs, which will be lowered to 4000 DEC or Credits once Voucher-based discounts for them come to an end.
More updates are coming on September 3rd to further finetune the Voucher system. From that day onwards, the developers will increase their utility while making them easier to gain. This will be achieved by adding an in-game DEC/Voucher liquidity pool through which players can get Vouchers without going through the hassle of using a decentralized exchange outside the game. The Voucher Store will also go live that day together with a new card to buy using Vouchers. A 12.5% burn tax will be in place whenever players transfer Vouchers amongst each other.
The final change part of this whole revamp is the closing of the Splinterstorm Skin Shop on September 3rd, so you have time until then to get your desired skins “before they’re gone forever!”
Win Trading Policies & More Polls
The overhaul is one of many important updates coming to Splinterlands. For these other ones though, there are plenty of voting polls up for the community to participate in to provide feedback the developers need to know how to progress things forward. A total of 5 polls alone are up for significant questions that are related to Do Not Win playlists, win trading, tournaments, brawls, and ranked games.
Next to these, there are also 3 other polls for the community to participate in at the time of writing. These are related to entry fees for tournaments, tournament ranked league gating, and the quantity of tournaments to be hosted every month. The links to all of these can be found in this official tweet.
On August 15th, Splinterlands is expanding the Rebellion set with new soulbound reward cards, introducing 43 new cards alongside various abilities, while providing owners of Chaos Legion soulbound reward cards with the ability to unbind them and thus make them tradable assets.
