Uprising L2 Launches Free Genesis NFT Mint on August 14th

Uprising, a L2 network secured by SEGA, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and Ubisoft, and built on the Oasys gaming blockchain, is launching its very own Genesis NFT Collection in the form of a free mint taking place on Ethereum in multiple phases starting from August 14th at 10 AM EST.

What Is the Uprising Genesis NFT Collection?

The Uprising NFT Collection is a Genesis PFP Collection of 1,111 NFTs that will serve as the foundation of the upcoming gaming-focused blockchain, with 222 NFTs reserved for partners and the treasury. According to the FAQ in the official Discord server, these NFTs will have a variety of future utilities to provide long-term value, and we already have a sneak peek of some of the utilities the community can expect to benefit from.

Utilities

So far, it’s been revealed that these NFTs will serve as PFPs but also as Game Passes for upcoming Web3 titles launching on this chain. It’s not currently clear if this Game Pass will apply only to one game, to projects the team is directly working with, or to any play to earn game that integrates these NFTs. Next to likely providing early access to upcoming crypto games, this NFT will also provide access to something else that’s been redacted, so you’ll have to wait for a future announcement to find out more. Other utilities revealed so far include bonuses to a Discord leaderboard, and a boost to the Proof of Play Points you’ll earn by actively playing various games in the ecosystem. Proof of Play Points will be used together with the upcoming Uprising token to collect various rewards from the studio and their partners as you climb the Uprising leaderboards. Gameplay, content creation, and community engagement will all be ways for players to earn both Proof of Play Points and Uprising tokens.

How to Mint for Free

On August 14th, the free minting of Uprising NFTs will begin on the Ethereum network, starting off with a Guaranteed Mint phase at 10 AM EST and followed by the Waitlist FCFS phase the same day at 11 AM EST. If any NFTs still remain unminted after these 2 phases, then you can look forward to the Public Mint an hour later at 12 PM EST, where anyone will have a chance to mint from the remaining supply for free. Of course, while the NFTs themselves don’t have a price tag, you’ll still need to have enough ETH to cover the gas fees.

You can check if your wallet is on the Allowlist for one of the first two phases by heading to the official mint page linked in this tweet. Since June, the Web3 gaming community has had various ways to earn a Guaranteed or FCFS WL spot, as the team has been hosting various events, contests, AMAs, and quizzes through which you could’ve been awarded a spot in the first two phases. Active community members on Discord and social media have also been handpicked by the team to reward their dedication and support. If you missed out on these events or weren’t lucky enough to receive a spot, then you’ll have to try your luck in the Public Mint phase, if supply still remains for that round.

About Uprising Blockchain

Uprising is described as being the “world’s first” gaming-focused layer 2 chain to feature native yield. What does this mean, exactly? Well basically, when users bridge $OAS tokens or stablecoins over to this multichain network, they’re rewarded with native yield protocol rewards of up to 9% APY alongside potentially other rewards. Specifically, this means a 9% yield that comes from L1 Oasys validator staking, and 5% for bridging stablecoins, while bonus rewards will be distributed by the team itself.

The network is secured by Square Enix, Ubisoft, SEGA, Bandai Namco, and more companies through the Oasys L1 network, a gaming-optimized blockchain that Uprising is built on. This means that these AAA gaming companies serve as network validators that help keep it secure while also providing players with 9% APY and various rewards.

The project was announced at the end of May this year, with the official website for it launching in July, where it’s revealed that this blockchain combines offchain and onchain security to deliver a low barrier to entry with 100% gas-free transactions and advanced chain interoperability. Next to leveraging Oasys, the network also utilizes the open source Optimism L2 tech stack alongside data availability layer Avail, with whom they announced a partnership mid-July.

Aside from plans to launch native staking in Q3 2024, there is no roadmap to give us a better idea of the team’s future plans, but you can probably look forward to details for an upcoming testnet sometime after this free NFT mint is over. Details on the launch of the Uprising token are also currently not available.
