In a recent announcement from the developers of the popular blockchain-based card game Gods Unchained, players can now enjoy a more personalized gaming experience with the introduction of customizable avatars. This new feature allows players to use their favorite cards as avatars, adding a unique touch to their digital profiles.
The update was shared by the game’s new Growth Lead, who expressed excitement about the new features, stating, “You don’t have to be a rat anymore!” This refers to the default avatar previously used in the game. Now, players can choose avatars that showcase specific cards from their collections, with the avatar’s frame reflecting the card’s rarity.
How the Avatar System Works
To set an avatar, players simply go to their profile on the game’s dashboard and select an avatar customization option. The choice of avatar depends on the cards the player owns. For example, owning any version of the card Thaeriel, The Fallen allows a player to set it as an avatar. If the player sells or trades this card, the avatar reverts to the default. The avatar frames correspond to the card’s shine—equipping a Meteorite Thaeriel, for instance, displays a Meteorite Shine Frame.
It should be noted that all avatars and frames are non-tradable and non collectible, serving as representations of the cards one owns. If one sells or trades the card, they lose the corresponding avatar/frame, unless they own multiple copies of the same card.
The Gods Unchained Progression System
The progression system in Gods Unchained is designed to reward players engaging with the game at various levels. The system is tied to the game’s economic model, where players earn rewards in the form of cards and fragments. The recent updates have further refined this model to ensure that player progression reflects dedication and skill.
The introduction of formats like Flashback, where players can experience previous metas, adds depth to the game and provides veterans and newcomers alike with diverse play experiences.
Insights from the Latest AMA Session
Developers shared exciting news about new updates and the game’s future plans during the latest AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on the official Gods Unchained Discord channel.
Developers introduced something called “Formats,” which are new ways for players to experience Gods Unchained. These Formats include a special one named Flashback, allowing players to relive past versions of the game. This mix of old and new challenges is set to make the game even more engaging.
A major change discussed was the restructuring of the DPE (Decentralized Playable Ecosystem). This change means that players who are ranked 6 and below won’t earn Fragments anymore, making every win more important for players ranked 7 to 12. This adjustment is part of an effort to reward players who invest more time and strategy into the game.
Community feedback was also a key focus during the AMA. The developers talked about tackling issues like cheating with bots, making sure tournament prizes are given out correctly, and better supporting the game’s content creators.
Additionally, it was revealed that Gods Unchained and another popular web3 game, Guild of Guardians, exist in the same universe. This connection suggests potential future collaborations that could merge storylines and gameplay elements across different games within the Immutable ecosystem.
