Gaming ecosystem and PvP MOBA MagicCraft has received its biggest update yet while officially becoming available on web3 native game store HyperPlay to give gamers another way to jump into the free to play $MCRT-powered title.
What’s New in MagicCraft’s Biggest Patch?
Patch 4.29.9319 represents a huge new update to the blockchain MOBA that introduces a variety of new features and improvements for a better web3 gaming experience across PC, Android, and iOS. These include the addition of a new customization shop, the launch of its very own in-game currency system that incentivizes player progression, and enhancements to gameplay, graphics, and sound for smoother and more immersive strategic action. The end-game screen has been adjusted to now display the top 500 players, with the developers planning on introducing web3 rewards to encourage more competitive play and earn gaming where players will have more incentive to climb to the very top.
Notable bug fixes have also been made so that the real-time score now updates live during a match, while the strange issue of character power buttons not working should now be completely resolved.
Customization Shop
The new in-game store features various new skins and weapons you can purchase to customize your playable characters with. There are skins available for most of the champions, and according to the game’s CEO, Muqsit Ali, a new ‘epic skin pack’ should soon be released. Ali also teases that some of the dozens of new weapons added to this customization shop could even end up getting buffs in the future, potentially making them more than just cosmetic items.
Players can now find new buttons in the character selection screen that you can use to equip your character with one of the new weapons and skins you purchase using the Gems premium currency. That being said, the way currency works is now changing thanks to the addition of a new in-game currency system. Let’s check it out!
Currency System
The new system replaces previously earned currencies with a new in-game currency called MagicDust that you can use to buy characters. This means that heroes are no longer available for free like before. Instead, everyone now starts off with 5 characters out of the game’s current 19-champion roster, so you’ll have to earn MagicDust to unlock the rest. MagicDust can’t be bought with real money, but it can be earned by playing matches. You can also gain MagicDust by getting your first win of the day as well as through daily login rewards.
All current players have been given a head start to this new system by getting 100k MagicDust for free. This amount is enough to unlock any 2 new characters. Gems can now only be bought via in-app purchases, and seem to be the only way to get the new skins and weapons.
According to the end of the CEO’s X thread, more updates are set to launch “very soon” that will help make MagicCraft a true play to earn game and “the most valuable game in the Web3 space”. Aside from the earlier mention of adding web3 incentives to the top 500 leaderboard, no other details on future earning-related updates were revealed in the thread.
How to Play MagicCraft on HyperPlay
After launching on Steam last year for web2 audiences, web3 gamers can now download cross-play fantasy game MagicCraft on HyperPlay by heading to its official store page and pressing the Play/Install game button to open up the store’s launcher. Or you can just search for the game through the launcher itself. The version available on this store seems to be for Windows PCs only, as there is no MacOS or Linux support. If you’d like to play the web3 MOBA on the go instead, you’ll then have to download the game through the Play Store or App Store as HyperPlay is not available on mobile devices. The PC version can also be downloaded separately through the game’s official website.
If you haven’t used this blockchain gaming launcher before but would like to have a unified home for various web3 games with cross-play support, then pressing the install button via your browser should give you a pop-up message with the option to download the public alpha launcher for Windows, MacOS, Linux, and even the Steam Deck! Upon downloading, you’ll be able to connect your wallet using WalletConnect, the MetaMask browser extension, or the MetaMask mobile app in order to approve any game transactions. You can also create a HyperPlay profile using your email address if you want to, and even connect your Epic Games Store and GOG accounts to have your games appear all in one place.
Next to this competitive title, some of the many other web3 games available on this blockchain game store include Apeiron, Shrapnel, Phantom Galaxies, and Moonray, which is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025, the announcement coming shortly after Off The Grid launched in early access for PC, PS5, and Xbox. Earlier this year, Square Enix made a strategic investment in HyperPlay, bringing their NFT game to the crypto gaming platform.
