Following the end of pre-season, Ronin-powered tower defense PvP game Ragnarok: Monster World is now running a play to airdrop Beta Season through which players can compete for top leaderboard spots to win a bigger share of the web3 game’s upcoming $ZENY token.
What’s New in Ragnarok: Monster World Beta Season?
The start of this season for the Clash Royale-like real-time strategy title marked the reset of everyone’s MMR and preseason rankings to properly kick off this 4-week competitive period, while modifying the winning rewards streak system to make it fairer for everyone.
The winning rewards streak system has been adjusted to give 50% lower winning streak benefits while removing the 1-win streak and capping the rewards at 10 times per day. Here’s how these changes affect the system:
- 1 Win: 3 rewards → None
- 2 Wins: 5 rewards → 3 rewards
- 3 Wins: 10 rewards → 5 rewards
- 4 Wins: 20 rewards → 10 rewards
- 5 Wins: 30 rewards → 15 rewards
- 6 Wins: 40 rewards → 20 rewards
- 7 Wins: 50 rewards → 25 rewards
- 8+ Wins: 60 rewards → 30 rewards
According to the update notes, other changes implemented include a new profile viewing feature that lets you see what decks other players use through the battle log or leaderboard, and a new event info pop-up in the lobby screen to help you not miss out on any event. The level display UI in deck and battle screens has been improved, while new challenges are now available alongside updated event quests. If you meet certain conditions, you might start getting customized offers that could be of better use to you then the usual offerings from the in-game shop.
Speaking of offers, this strategic card-based game has also been updated with new limited-timed purchasable items that include 3 different Crystal Luxury Packages and one Level Achievement Package. Each of these packages is available once per account. Crystals are premium in-game currency that you can also earn by ranking high on weekly and seasonal leaderboards. You can buy one of these Crystal Luxury Packages when trying to do a level-up merge on any Ragmon:
- 400 Crystals (800% value) for $0.49
- 2430 Crystals (600% value) for $4.99
- 3280 Crystals (400% value) for $9.99
The Level Achievement Package unlocks at level 4 and lets you get a total of 4860 Crystals for $4.99, which is said to be a 1200% value. 1460 Crystals from this package are awarded straight away when buying it, while the rest of the Crystals are unlocked by reaching level 5 (730 Crystals), level 10 (970 Crystals), and level 15 (1700 Crystals).
A new patch is already planned to arrive on October 17th. That one is focused on bringing balancing changes to Nexus, Guardians, Spells, and Ragmons. Read more on all the buffs and nerfs coming your way in this Medium post.
Reward Pool for Ragnarok: Monster World Beta Season
This season, players can earn E-ZENY, an off-chain token that will be converted to $ZENY after TGE at a 1:1 ratio. No TGE date is currently available. E-ZENY will be rewarded to the top 10,000 players on the NFT Leaderboard, as well to those who take part in the Invite Mission. Up to 6 million E-ZENY tokens could be up for grabs on the leaderboard depending on the number of players invited, while the Invite Mission category has its own special prize pool of 1 million E-ZENY that both invites and invitees can earn a share of by meeting certain conditions. You have until November 7th, 12 PM GMT+7 to participate in both of these airdrop events.
NFT Leaderboard Rewards
The number of tokens that will be awarded on the Elo-based NFT Leaderboard will depend on the number of invites the community as a whole achieves throughout this season. If the total number of invites ends up being below 10,000, then the reward pool for the NFT MMR Leaderboard is 4.5 million E-ZENY. If the number of invites exceeds 10,000, then the prize pool will increase to 6 million E-ZENY.
Whether the base pool stays the same or gets expanded, rewards will either way be distributed to the highest-ranking players across 2 distribution periods, which include Week 2 and Week 4, as displayed in the leaderboard images. Players who manage to rank in the top 10k during the first 2 weeks of this season will receive 35% of the reward pool, while those who make it in this range by the end of season will share the remaining 65%.
NFT Contribution Rate
While the game itself is free to play, this leaderboard requires you to own a Ragmon NFT to participate. Ragmon NFTs are monster cards you can deploy on the 3D battlefield as units that attack the opponent’s towers and base. You can have up to 7 NFTs in each deck, and the more NFTs you use in winning battles, the more you increase your NFT Contribution Rate. This system was just recently introduced and discussed in an AMA shortly after the season started. With this new addition, your average NFT Contribution Rate for winning battles needs to be at least 10% in order to actually qualify for the rewards you ranked for, as this rate directly impacts the amount of E-ZENY you’ll actually receive for your leaderboard position. This means that, even if you’re ranked in 1st place, if your NFT Contribution Rate is 40%, you will earn 40% of the E-ZENY allocated for the top spot. Any rewards that end up getting unclaimed as a result of this system will either be burned or re-allocated to a new leaderboard.
Less than 16 hours remain for Ragmon Ticket holders to claim NFTs at the time of writing, after which the tickets will no longer be usable. The number of tickets needed varies based on the asset’s rarity. You can buy tickets on the Mavis Market for the floor price of 0.73 $RON (~$1.10). If you don’t want to do it this way or you miss out in this last claim phase, then you can also head to the Ragmon NFT collection page on the Mavis Market to buy the monsters you want from other players. There are many different types of monsters with distinct abilities and varying stats, with the cheapest one currently listed being a Poring NFT at 1.07 $RON, which is a cute pink creature that splits into 2 Mini Porings upon death.
Invite Mission Rewards
If you invite at least 5 friends using your referral code, and they manage to meet certain conditions, you will be eligible to earn a share of a 1 million E-ZENY prize pool. Invited friends need to connect their wallet and email on the game’s official website, and then not only log in to the game, but also achieve 20+ wins during this season. This way, players are inviting friends who are actually interested in playing Ragnarok: Monster World instead of just being inactive referrals doing a quick favor for you. However, following community feedback, the developers have decided to postpone the launch of this system to October 17th in order to consider various ideas from the playerbase, so we might see this work differently than initially planned.
Here’s how rewards are expected to be distributed for this category, according to the reward guide. If you somehow get more than 100 eligible invites, then each invite after 100 could get you a bonus of 60 E-ZENY.
