Playground has recently completed a pre-alpha playtest for 3 new games launched and promoted by the platform. The playtest has been a resounding success for all three games, as they were included in the Top 10 DappRadar list. Riding high on their recent successful partnerships with platforms like GOAT Gaming, Domination, and web3 Game Con, among others, Playground is partnering up with Web3 gaming developers and games.
Three New Games in Playtest : Performance Review
Playground launched three games in the pre-alpha playtest in the month of June for three games: Copycat Killer, Panic, and Parkour Battle. Until 29th June, all three games recorded a combined number of 256,000 players and 19.2 million on-chain transactions. On average, all three games observed a 91% D1 retention and 59% D7 retention.
All three games performed well and are considered a resounding success.
- Copycat Killer: It’s a game of suspense where players must create strategies to build trust in a community where deceit is a staple attribute. Every decision in the game can lead to the player’s death, and the purpose is to uncover the truth while outwitting the killers.
The game obtained 5th rank on the DappRadar during the time it was live in the playtest campaign. Recording on-chain transactions of 21.27 million, the total UAW for this game was 290,000.
- Panic: Twelve players go against an AI-based meme who is chasing everyone with the motive to kill. Players must run away either by speed or using stealth and save themselves. Points are given for running as far as possible from the killer meme and getting out safe, and bonus points are added to the total if a player successfully saves fallen players.
DappRadar gave 6th rank to the game during the time it was live. At this time, Panic recorded on-chain transactions of 13.4 million and generated a total UAW of 211,000.
- Parkour Battle: As the name suggests, Parkour Battle merges Prince of Persia like player movement with Assassin’s Creed type of dynamics. Players race across an obstacle course while using their parkour skills. Plus, they are required to use their intellect to come out of mazes. With an added element of slingshots which brings more excitement to the game, Parkour Battle also proved to be a great success.
With the 8th rank on the DappRadar list, Parkour Battle generated on-chain transactions of 9.3 million and a total UAW of 165,000.
However, a common trend was observed here as the retention rate of all three games decreased gradually. Another metric Playground used to measure a game’s success is the player retention value.
Observe the image above to check the D1 through D30 retention rates. The D1 retention rate implies the percentage of players who continued to play the game after the first day. Similarly, D7 represents the number of players who continue to play after 7 days of the game’s launch.
A metric used during playtest, the retention rate is important to assess the long-term impact and popularity of the game. Another interesting fact about this playtest was that over 71% of the players came from tier 1 countries like the USA and Canada, among others.
All this information is instrumental for game developers and marketing teams to set future targets and build bespoke strategies.

A Platform for Real Games to Engage
PlayAcademy is a part of Playground and was launched on 18th June with the motive to let Tier 1 gamers engage more actively. Aiming to build a tight community while partnering with Web3 games, every player’s activity is tracked and recorded in PlaySDK.
The data from PlaySDK will be used by game developers and user acquisition experts for personalized targeting. This will ensure all gamers get information on Web3 games they love to play.
The PlayAcademy hosts events and tournaments ending with hefty cash prizes and Play Points. These points, in turn, allow academy members to acquire major prizes. In the same academy, users can participate in online fantasy leagues, including Fortnite, Dota 2, Call of Duty War Zone, and Rocket League, among others.
Playground has impressed the development and gaming community with its platform-based functionalities. Focused on building partnerships, Playground is expected to continue to improve its offering and benefits.
