The Smurfs players are invited on a grand expedition across Mt. Smurf, where they will complete a mission to find the lost eggs. With this integration, The Smurfs expands to the metaverse as it becomes a part of The Sandbox interactive environment. Through this integration, the players can explore a virtual Smurf-inspired adventure combining the elements of fun, exploration, and collaboration.
Sandbox Players will Socialize in a Virtual Village
Played in an interactive Smurf vacation village, the players, while initially invited on vacation, will have to find stolen stork eggs on Mt. Smurf. The addition of Smurfs to The Sandbox environment means players participating in Sandbox’s adventures can now interact with Smurf game elements to complete the quest.
The integration is a part of The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 4, a metaverse exploration event. Players, while competing in different integrated games, like the Smurfs, must collect Experience Points (EP) to progress and earn rewards.
The players participating in this expedition will have to complete 20 quests to find the lost stork eggs. The expedition begins as Gargamel steals the eggs, but the Stork manages to stop it from taking the eggs. However, in the collision, Gargamel dropped the eggs in the mountains.
So, now the Swan has asked for Smurf’s assistance to find the eggs, the expedition players will go on in the game. There are several iconic Smurf locations to explore as a part of the expedition. Navigating through the seas, mountains, and other smurf-inspired environments makes for engaging gameplay.
The 20 quests are meant to refer players to distinct tasks or challenges players must complete in the game. As the players complete the quests, they move ahead in the storyline and near the lost eggs.
In addition to progressing in the game, players will also earn 43 Experience Points (EP), which are a part of the Alpha Season 4 event.
There are several in-game challenges as a part of the quests, which the players must complete with the help of Handy, Storm, and Smurfette, among other smurfs. Smurfs will prove useful in the expedition to unlock new abilities, destroy rocks, grow vines, and build bridges. All of this will be required for the player to move ahead in the expedition and reach the destination.
A Limited and Time-Sensitive NFT Collection
As a part of this collaboration, The Sandbox players who participate in the quests to find the lost eggs can also get their hands on Smurf-tastic NFTs and exclusive items. These items and NFTs can only be found in the Smurf expedition quest.
The NFT collection may include diverse Smurf-based characters and items. Outside the event, the Smurf NFT collection has over 12500 unique assets, and each one is rendered in detailed 3D overlays with over 300 traits.
The Immersion of Pop Culture in Modern Metaverse
The Smurfs became a part of The Sandbox environment in 2020 following its partnership with IMPS, the official licensor of Smurfs. This partnership brought the Smurf characters and their village to the Sandbox metaverse.
While Smurfs creates a nostalgic feeling, its integration and ability to play with the characters in The Sandbox delivers a memorable experience.
