Among the latest big hitters like Manor Lords and Crusader Kings 3, one mediaeval grand strategy game shaking up the industry is Everdawn:Champions. The game has already gained significant momentum with support from fans and strategic partners, raising $2 million from big-name Web3 investors like Animoca Brands, Jump Crypto, and Maven Capital among others.
Everdawn Champions is the flagship project of Nexus Interactive, a Web3 gaming ecosystem offering a comprehensive suite of Web solutions, ranging from game development to publishing, and community-driven content creation.
With over 100,000 community members actively engaged with its ecosystem and roughly $2 million in revenue, Nexus Interactive has rapidly emerged as a crucial platform for gamers and developers interested in the next generation of scalable blockchain games. Its Web3 gaming ecosystem offers three solutions:
Nexus Play: Their in-house game development studio behind sought-after titles such as Everdawn: Champions, Questing Realms, and more.
Nexus Build: This serves as a Web3 publisher for third-party developers to launch great games within the Nexus Interactive ecosystem.
Nexus Share: AI-powered UGC and community-powered programs that grow the Nexus ecosystem, where users share in value what they create.
What is Everdawn: Champions
It’s a 3D trading card battler, part of a new generation of strategy-based games using blockchain technology to give users immersive and rewarding gameplay. These games offer intense battles and require incredible strategy and card knowledge to climb their highly competitive ranks.
Set in the mediaeval era, Everdawn Champions invites players to battle each other inside a dynamic, 3D hex-based battlefield, with the goal of defeating your opponent’s Golem. It offers an immersive, action-packed experience, featuring unique cards that transform into a fully animated 3D character each time you play it.
In this fun-filled competitive card game, players must collect cards to build a deck. This deck is made of Units, Spells, and Champions. Champions are the Genesis NFTs of Everdawn Champions and provide various bonuses and abilities.
How to Play Everdawn: Champions
You play with an army of NFTs (Unit cards) which you must train and lead into strategic battles against your peers to claim loot chest rewards. Loot chests include tokens and in-game NFT collectibles which players can trade through the marketplace, or add to their army. Meanwhile, a spell card comes with spells that can be cast on the opponents to inflict the most damage.
That said, Everdawn lets players combine multiple copies of a card to create an upgraded version that can be traded on the NFT marketplace.
Future of Everdawn and Nexus Interactive
Everdawn Champions has been gaining momentum for several weeks, becoming the most-played title on the Elixir during its closed beta throughout 2023. The Nexus Interactive team plans to launch an open beta in September 2024, with a large number of players already on the waiting list.
In August, Nexus Interactive revealed plans for web3 gaming expansion after securing $2 million in funding from veteran VCs such as Animoca Brands, Jump Crypto, and Maven Capital. Nexus Interactive founder Liam Bacon said that the focus is developing new game titles and improving the platform to accelerate the time it takes to bring Web3 games to market.
“We’ve gone through this journey ourselves in the last 3 years building out our own web3 game development studio, ” Bacon said, “[We] can offer immense value to other builders and creators looking to launch in web3.”
Beyond its flagship TCG, Nexus Interactive is also developing $NXI, its native utility token. $NXI will serve as a utility and governance token across its gaming platform, facilitating the exchange of in-game assets and other economic activities with the Nexus Interactive ecosystem.
Nexus Interactive’s team brings extensive experience from games studios such as Activision, Rockstar and EA, while also developing successful titles like Splinterlands and Gods Unchained, which have generated substantial revenue and attracted millions of users to Web3 gaming. Other than Everdawn, the team has also released Questing Realms and is set to release Snap Royale in early 2025.
The team will also hold a playtest weekend for Everdawn: Champions in the coming weeks. Beta launch will follow soon after on Epic Games.
