Developer Mon Studios has announced that the breeding feature and Stellar Pass are now both live in their free to play monster-catching MMORPG, Spellborne.
How Breeding Works
To make use of this useful new feature, players need one male and one female monster. They can be of any breed, but they must be from the same egg group. There are 6 types of egg groups that mons can belong to, and different breeds can be a part of the same egg group. When using this feature, the parents will be burned, and you will get a child that has the same breed as its mother. While the female mon sets the breed of the new monster, the gender of the child is male by default. If you want the child to be female, you’ll need to pay an extra 25 Gold Nuggets. Doing so will thus let you have a new female monster for rebreeding, thus giving you more opportunity “to continue improving,” according to the official thread on X by the game’s Head Mod, Frenchy.
The stats of the child are randomly given based on the stats of the parents, but if you want to get a specific stat from a parent, then you will need to use items called Anklets. There are 7 different kinds of Anklets corresponding to the specific stat you’d like to take from the parent, such as a Health Anklet or Stamina Anklet. Once you use the Anklet though, it’s gone together with the parents. What about the other stats where you don’t use an Anklet, how are they randomly determined? Well, if the male monster has 40 ATK and the female monster has 50 ATK, their child will get a random number in between that range of 40 to 50. It works the same way for any stat.
Players can start using this new feature as a way of controlling inflation before monsters become NFTs by going to the first city and talking to the lady at the Petz Store, where you can add the 2 mons you’d like to breed to get a potentially stronger child.
What Is the Stellar Pass?
The Stellar Pass is a new battle pass representing an upgrade to the daily missions system. Through this battle pass, players can earn 3 exclusive skins, 6 unique tools, and more than 150 gold nuggets. It has a total of 50 levels to progress through, and it also introduces new rewards that are said to include profile borders, emojis, and loading screens, among others. Skins earned in this battle pass will eventually become NFTs, according to a moderator in the game’s official Discord server.
With the launch of this system also marks the introduction of weekly missions alongside existing daily missions that you can complete in order to progress through the battle pass. Missions vary from simply logging into your account to feeding 5 crops to your monsters. Completing missions is rewarded with certain amounts of XP to help you make your way through the new battle pass and unlock the varied rewards it brings. You can also buy levels in the Stellar Pass with Gold Nuggets for the price of 10 Gold Nuggets per level, and it’s possible to purchase multiple levels at the same time. The developers will continue to add new types of missions over time to give them more variety.
The Stellar Pass will have unique themes for each month, which also means different prizes to earn. These rewards attainable in the battle pass will actually not be available in the game’s store for at least 12 months.
You can buy this first Stellar Pass, referred to as the Golden Ages of Celestia, by heading to the Seasons menu and clicking on the third tab, which takes you to the menu of the battle pass itself, where you will find a purchase button. The Stellar Pass costs $15, and you can find info on how to deposit the needed tokens to your game wallet in this documentation page. You also get 100 Store Points for making the purchase. Spellborne players can also gift Stellar Pass subscriptions, and anyone who does so is rewarded with 150 Store Points for each gifted subscription. Store Points are one of the 3 types of points being used during Spellborne’s Season 1 to track player activity and help you win an upcoming token airdrop.
