The developer of free to play strategy game Blocklords, MetaKing Studios, has announced the start of the Orb Lock event for their Base-powered companion game, Blocklords Dynasty. The event started on August 21st and will end on October 23rd. Here’s how it works!
What Is This Event About?
This event is about collecting Node Power (NP) by locking Orbs. There are 3 types of Orbs that you can lock: Mythic, Legendary, and Epic. Each type of Orb generates different amounts of Node Power, but what’s the point of Node Power? Well, if you want to have “future participation in the LORDCHAIN mainnet,” which is the studio’s own upcoming network for their flagship gaming ecosystem, then you will want to have as much Node Power as you can. Specifically, having Node Power is needed for participating in network transaction validation, buying Node Tiers and for taking part in exclusive node subscriptions events. Node Tiers will determine the rewards you can get on LORDCHAIN, with higher tiers providing more rewards and benefits, “especially for $LRDS locking participants.” It’s not currently known how much Node Power you will need to unlock certain tiers.
As there are 3 types of Orbs, that also means that there are 3 different locking options for this event:
- Mythic Orb: Lock 1 for 13 weeks = 15 NP
- Legendary Orb: Lock 1 for 13 weeks = 2 NP
- Epic Orbs: Lock 2 for 13 weeks = 1 NP
How to Get Orbs
Players can get Orbs by buying them using ETH on Base through the browser-based dApp itself. When starting off, players create an account using an email address or by signing in via Google, with the game automatically generating a wallet using the onboarding solution Privy. When heading to the market section and choosing an Orb to purchase, the game will let you choose different methods of sending ETH to your wallet to complete your purchase. There will be an option to copy the address on which you can receive ETH on Base, as well as options to deposit using bridges, but if you have a Coinbase account, then using Coinbase Pay is an option as well.
As there are a total of 6 types of Orbs in the game, you’ll want to make sure you buy the ones eligible for this event. At the time of writing, the cheapest Epic Orb on the market is 0.055 ETH, but you’ll need 2 of them to successfully use that locking option, and there’s currently actually only 3 listed Epic Orbs, with the second cheapest one being 0.073999 ETH. You only need 1 Legendary Orb to participate in this event though, and the least expensive one available is 0.175 ETH. As for Mythic Orbs, you might manage to find one for 0.97 ETH.
Previously, players had the opportunity to get Orbs through Dynasty Chests while crafting rare Orbs by fusing lower-quality ones. Those events however ended on August 6th, meaning it’s now only possible to buy them on the market from other players. As there are only 500 Epic Orbs, 200 Legendary Orbs, and 100 Mythics Orbs in total, listings for them are likely to be scarce.
Node Power
Node Power is an important resource for the upcoming LORDCHAIN mainnet, and the web3 community will have a chance of accumulating it through various official asset-locking activities in Blocklords, Ethereum, and Base, such as this ongoing 13-week event. The more Node Power you collect, the bigger your rewards and privileges will potentially be as you will be able to unlock higher Node Tiers. About LORDCHAIN
