Compete in New Moonfrost PvP Leaderboard Event: Farm Royale

Supercell-backed blockchain farming sim RPG Moonfrost has launched a new wave of Alpha Release 4, which lets anyone compete for SHARDs in a new PvP game mode with its own leaderboard event: Farm Royale.

What Is Moonfrost’s Farm Royale Event About?

Farm Royale is a PvP mini-game in the charming pixelated world of Moonfrost, where the goal is to collect resources and farm crops to place into Deposit Chests scattered around the map to earn as many points as you can to help you not only rank higher in the match, but also on the overall leaderboard. Deposit Chests ask for one type of resource or crop and can require a certain quantity to complete them. The number of points you get from a certain Deposit Chest can vary, with the chests asking for high-tier resources awarding more points. You can also use the Earthquaker to smash open any chest, but doing so uses up Biofuel, which you can find more of in Supply Chests.

By ranking higher during a match, you will get more points added to your leaderboard rank, increasing your chances of getting a higher quantity of SHARDs when the event ends.

Playing a match in this multiplayer mode uses up one ticket. You get 10 tickets every 24 hours, with the reset happening at midnight UTC, so you can play up to 10 matches a day for free. If you happen to have the FHA License Holder Discord role, then you will get 2 extra tickets alongside a rewards multiplier that is said to give a “slight advantage” without impacting the rewards of other players.

This leaderboard event started on Friday, November 8th at 11 AM UTC and will end on Tuesday, November 12th at 11 AM UTC. The more players join in, the higher the chances of the SHARDs prize pool getting increased, not just for this event, but for future ones as well. There is no other way for players to collect SHARDs in this playtest period, but the developers hope to introduce a “casual way of collecting SHARDs” in Alpha Release 5, according to a Discord announcement from earlier this week.

What are Moonfrost SHARDs?

SHARDs represent both an in-game currency and a points system for the game’s upcoming core token, $FROST, for which there is no TGE date at the time of writing. It’s not explicitly stated if SHARDs are a play to airdrop path to the upcoming cryptocurrency, but the team does plan on linking the two in some way.

What we do know however is that with this currency, you will be able to unlock unique web3 gaming experiences, meaning you will be able to gain access to exclusive areas, increased entry to limited-time events, access to unique in-game items, and more. The functionality isn’t completely set in stone, so if you have any ideas, developer Oxalis Games is more than happy to listen to any and all feedback on what else they should possibly introduce for SHARDs.

It was previously possible to earn SHARDs during the Farming Fest event from earlier this year, with players who collected the most number of SHARDs getting whitelisted for a free NFT mint of Frost-Hunter Licenses, which are now available on OpenSea for the floor price of 0.209 ETH. Frost-Hunter Licenses are the game’s first set of Genesis NFTs, and as such grant holders airdrops of $FROST, access to all future releases of the game, the FHA License Holder Discord role, and potentially various other benefits that will be revealed in due course.
