This year’s Halloween event for Boss Fighters runs from October 21st through November 4th. Players can earn exclusive Halloween-themed, mythical level, NFT skins for Bosses and for Fighter weapons, just by playing!
The weapon skins include one for each weapon type — Moonrage (railgun), Strikenstein (striker), and Blobbrain (slime lobber). The Boss skin is a Freddy Kreuger sweater-themed outfit. These items will only be available through this event. All rewards are NFTs which can be bought and sold through the Open Loot marketplace.
In order to participate, you will need to collect Jack-o’-lanterns while playing the game. Those on the top of the leaderboards earn rewards. Prizes go to the top 188 Fighter players and the top 93 Boss players. You can’t even find the rewards from last year’s Halloween event on the marketplace, so if you want to get this year’s skins, you will likely need to earn them yourself!
The leaderboard for the Halloween skins will only be available during the first week (October 21st through the 28th). From October 28th through November 4th, players can only earn the regular in-game items plus FLEX currency. Ranking is based on the number of Jack-o’-lanterns collected.
The top Fighter player will receive three full sets of weapon skins, second place two sets, and third place a full set. Rewards scale down from there, with those in ranks 101 to 188 receiving a random weapon skin. All players on the Boss leaderboard will receive at least one Boss skin, with the top player rewarded with five copies! Hand those extras out to your friends or sell them to other players.
In addition, everyone who grabs enough Jack-o’-lanterns during the two week event will receive an airdrop of FLEX (game token that is used to merge in-game items to a higher rarity). Rewards are based on the following list:
- Collect 30–65 orbs: 150 FLEX
- 66–110 orbs: 250 FLEX
- 111–149 orbs: 500 FLEX
- 150+ orbs: 750 FLEX
This event also brings us a Halloween-themed arena, complete with wandering ghosts! Boss Fighters is free to play and available for download through Steam. And since skin rarity will matter when the Boss Fighters economy goes into effect, why not try and grab some free Mythic level skins now?!
What is Boss Fighters?
Boss Fighters is an asynchronous, arena combat game that pits a team of four players against one Boss player – a giant, tentacled enemy that can smash apart buildings, shoot lasers, and even rip up the arena and throw parts of it at the fighters! The Fighter players have guns, rockets, grappling hooks, sticky bombs, and other weapon and gear options to assist in their battle against the Boss.
The Boss players have the option of playing the game with a PC, or through a VR headset, putting themselves directly into the action!
Boss Fighters is free to play. No NFTs or web3 wallet required! Boss Fighters is currently still in beta testing, but once live, it will run in seasons. During each season, players gain experience as they play, opening up new gear, cosmetics, and upgrades. These rewards may be wiped between seasons, but players will have the option of spending game currency to mint certain items into NFTs.
Boss Fighters includes skins, cosmetic, costume items, for Boss and Fighter players, and Weapon skins for the different Fighter weapon choices. All skins for Boss Fighters will always be cosmetic only – they don’t provide any in-game benefit – but they do look pretty cool!
Boss Fighters connects with Open Loot, so players don’t even need a web3 wallet to buy and sell digital collectibles for Boss Fighters. Plenty of Character, Boss, and Weapon skins are already available on the Open Loot marketplace.
