Earlier this month, web3 gaming ecosystem Unioverse announced the Ventus NFT collection, which you will have an opportunity to “free” mint this early December. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming collection, and what you can do to join in the public mint, or possibly even the whitelist phase!
What Is the Unioverse Ventus NFT Collection?
The Ventus NFT collection is a series of 5000 ERC-721 PFPs on the Ethereum network that unlock a wide range of benefits across the Unioverse franchise, including priority access to whitelists and early access to airdrops, but also rare in-game privileges and a POWER bonus. This NFT comes with 0% creator royalties and also acts as your exclusive in-game identity that appears next to your gamer tag on various places across this sci-fi ecosystem, including leaderboards for various blockchain games. It’s the only NFT that can give you a percentage bonus to your POWER rating, with the boost varying based on the rarity of your PFP. No other NFT from this IP can buff your POWER score. POWER is basically the equivalent currency of $UNIO that is used to help you take over planets in this sci-fi universe while earning Protens through play to earn gameplay to convert during Nexus events. How much POWER you have depends on the number of $UNIO tokens you hold. Because each PFP from this collection is backed by 50k $UNIO tokens, you will get 50k POWER plus a bonus depending on the NFT’s rarity.
According to the announcement from early November, this collection unlocks 4 new unique regions from the VENTUS system: Eldara Prime, Nexon Abyss, Zaridia 8, and Stellaris Core. This also means that the collection is comprised of PFPs representing heroes from these 4 different planets. Each PFP has 14 rarity traits, and aside from what’s been revealed in the initial announcement, you can expect more lore to be uncovered about these planets and its residents throughout the following 12 months.
How to Mint a Unioverse Ventus PFP
From December 3rd, 21:00 UTC, to December 5th, 1:00 UTC, you will have the opportunity to mint a Ventus PFP on Ethereum. Out of the collection’s 5000 total supply, 3500 will be available for the public mint, while 1500 goes to the ecosystem treasury in order to use them for gameplay rewards.
To participate, you will need to lock 50k $UNIO tokens (~$142 at the time of writing), the platform’s core cross-chain token that was announced earlier this year, a couple of months before it launched in September 2024. It’s available on exchanges such as KuCoin, Bitget, Gate.io, MEXC, and Coins.PH, and if you’re already holding the token on Base, you will have to use Layerswap to move your holdings over to the Ethereum network. This is because the PFP collection is on Ethereum mainnet, and in order to mint the NFT, you will need to lock 50k $UNIO tokens on the official mint page. This will also require paying gas fees, and once the transaction is successfully processed and the tokens are locked to the official smart contract, you should have your PFP appear in your connected wallet.
If you’re already holding the required number of tokens, this is essentially a “free” mint for you, because the 50k $UNIO tokens you have to lock to mint the PFP are not gone forever. You’re not spending tokens to acquire the NFT. In fact, the PFP is actually backed by your locked tokens, so if you want to get back your tokens, you can actually do that by simply burning the NFT whenever you want. This means that the collection’s total supply will never increase, but only decrease should holders want to gain control over their Unio Coins again.
Once you mint a Ventus PFP, it will become tradable within 48 hours. You will be able to trade the NFT on OpenSea, Blur, and Magic Eden, with 0% creator fees on any of these marketplaces. It’s important to note that should you choose to sell your NFT, your locked $UNIO tokens go with the asset as well, meaning the new owner can burn the PFP and get the tokens you locked, even if bought on a secondary marketplace.
Before public minting begins, there will be a 4-hour whitelist phase from December 2nd, 21:00 UTC to December 3rd, 1:00 UTC. Those who qualified for “No Sell November” are automatically eligible for the whitelist, but so are holders of Unioverse Heroes. You might still be able to get a whitelist spot by jumping into giveaways from various partners retweeted by the official X profile of Unioverse.
