Chapter 2.5 of social crafting and farming game Pixels kicked off with its first update on October 16th, which would be followed by its second major update, the start of a Halloween event, and the launch of the official online version of Binance Blockchain Week. Let’s dive into all and see how you can still earn limited-edition costumes and prizes!
Play to Earn Limited-Edition Halloween Costumes in New Pixels Event: Denis the Dentist’s Haunted Harvest
In Denis the Dentist’s Haunted Harvest, players can earn exclusive rewards by playing a mini-game called “Maul a Skaul”. This is where you can earn the event’s currency, teeth, by hitting Skauls, large skeleton heads that come in different colors, meaning some give you more points than others. You should avoid hitting the red one though.
Once the round is over, you can collect your teeth and use them to buy supplies needed for crafting Ump-O-Lanterns. By smashing these special jack-o-lanterns using the Ump-O-Thumper at the Smash-O-Lantern Station, you stand a chance of earning exclusive Halloween costumes. The Ump-O-Thumper however has durability, meaning that after smashing two Ump-O-Lanterns, you’ll have to get a new tool. Replacing your degraded hammer with a new one costs 13 $PIXEL tokens.
This Halloween event ends on October 31st. You can find Denis the Dentist’s Haunted Harvest map by taking the East Exit out of Terra Villa and heading through the iron gates.
Pixels Kicks Off Binance Blockchain Week With Themed Rewards
October 24th marked the start of the Binance Blockchain Week in Pixels, bringing the official online version of the event to this charming Ronin-powered world for everyone to enjoy.
The event can be accessed through the portal in Terra Villa, but by heading to pixels.xyz/binance, you will be taken right to the Binance Stadium, where Heidi will give you a quest in which you converse with various NPCs and get 3 PixTix, which are used to get one of 3 different Binance-themed rewards at the Binance Truck in the center of Terra Villa. You can’t earn more than 3 PixTix, so make sure to pick the prize you truly want! The available prizes include a Binance Trophy, Binance Blanket, and Binance Coinhead.
Completing this quest will also put you in a raffle that gives anyone a chance of winning NFT Land. You have until November 4th to complete this quest for free.
What’s New in Pixels Chapter 2.5?
The start of Chapter 2.5 marked the release of 7 new quests to help provide a better user experience, while changes to flower planting, crop planting, dead crop harvesting, and Grainbow Flour crafting were made in an effort to continuously deliver a balanced blockchain gaming ecosystem.
The rules for flower planting have been adjusted so that they can only be planted in the Solariums with matching land types, so if you want to plant Water Flower, you can only do so in Large Water House Solariums. As for crop planting rules, Astracactus is now only plantable on NFT Space farms, while Watermint is only plantable on NFT Water farms. You can now harvest up to 9 dead crops at once, while crafting Grainbow Flour and Sack of Flour is now done in Windmills. Crafting them also gives you Business Skill XP.
A week later, the second update came out on October 22nd, with a focus on balancing the economy and creating “an experience that evolves alongside the community,” according to the Discord announcement.
This major update introduces skill-based task segmentation, adding a limit of up to 40 tasks per skill type, with only a total of 4 available at any time in order to keep “gameplay balanced and challenging.” The Reputation System has been revamped so that it now tracks both off-chain and on-chain activities in order to combat botting while changing calculations to deal with coin inflation. Increasing your Reputation now leads to lower marketplace fees for you to pay. You can expect to see this kind of system continue to be used for the team’s future crypto games as well.
Pixels players can now spend 5000 coins to buy the Berry Blast, which gives you 100 energy points. To prevent exploits and keep things balanced, you can now no longer trade or list energy consumables on the marketplace. The $PIXEL price for Coins in the Bank has been adjusted, and you can now spend $PIXEL on a new quest called “Reputable Banker” in order to purchase a Coin coupon from the bank store, upping your Reputation score in the process.
The developers are dealing with Wine Energy abuse by removing the full Winery from Terra Villa and putting a Basic Winery there instead, that you can use to craft single-quantities of Popberry Wine, Grainbow Grainshine, and more. This is only T1 for now, but all existing Wineries on NFT Lands are now T4 and renamed to “Vintage Wineries”. Speaking of land, all owners are now VIPs by holding land for 7 days, unlocking 24 hours of benefits that include VIP tasks, fee discounts, bonus inventory space, currency pools, and more. Existing VIPs maintain their current expiration date and thus get 1% fee rate for the marketplace, while new VIPs will have new rates.
The launch of Chapter 2.5 marks the beginning of more regular update releases, and you can look forward to seeing more big and small updates come along throughout the next month or two.
