Developer Fracture Labs has officially integrated play to earn features in the early access release of their PvPvE survival RPG, Decimated. Here’s how you can jump in to start earning $DIO tokens!
How to Play to Earn in Decimated
To get started, you need to own an avatar NFT from the web3 game’s Death Valley collection, which had an exclusive mint this summer on the Solana network. You can get this NFT on Magic Eden, where the floor price is currently 0.128 $SOL at the time of writing. Next to unlocking early access, a Death Valley NFT also lets you participate in play to airdrop tournaments while acting as a PFP that can be staked to earn extra APR on $DIO. You also get in-game perks for various in-game characters, as well as early access to new website features.
Once you have the NFT, you can head over to the official Discord server to verify your wallet in the #collabland-join channel. This will give you access to an exclusive channel for NFT holders only, where you will be able to request a game key by filling in a form with your wallet address, email address, and Discord username. After you’ve done that, you’ll want to create a game wallet or connect your existing one to a closed beta version of the game’s website in order to officially begin your $DIO earning journey.
How do you earn $DIO? By collecting points to climb daily and weekly leaderboards. Points are earned for completing various missions, as well as for killing enemy players and NPCs as you explore the expansive post-apocalyptic open-world. You could lose points too if you kill friendly NPCs and players that belong to the same faction as you do, so make sure you avoid friendly fire in intense shootouts!
There are 4 categories of daily and weekly leaderboards you can climb through: Scavengers, Executioners, Predators, and Reapers. Each leaderboard has its own reward pool of $DIO tokens you can win a share of by ranking in the top 5. The Scavengers category revolves around earning points by gathering rare loot, while the Executioner category ranks players who manage to complete missions where there is a limited time to eliminate a certain number of enemies in a specific area. Points for the Predator leaderboards are awarded for PvP kills, while points in the Reapers category are earned from defeating enemy NPCs.
Recent Updates & Future Plans
In the lead-up to this play to earn launch, the developers introduced various updates to the game for a more engaging web3 gaming experiences. Some of these updates include a new map and compass system, new missions, better vehicle driving, a new server in Singapore, and a new faction system to let you choose whether you’d like to play as a human citizen, a cyborg cop, or a marauder. With the addition of the Singapore server, players in the APAC region can now enjoy a smoother web3 gaming experience.
In the future, possibly this December, you can look forward to seeing the web3 title go live in open alpha, paving the way for free to play gameplay to enjoy by downloading the game for Windows on the Epic Games Store, where it was listed earlier this year. An in-game item marketplace could also launch at the same time to allow players to trade loot amongst each other, meaning you’ll be able to trade weapons, vehicles, skins, and possibly more using the $DIO token. A mobile version is also coming at some point later on.
What Is Decimated?
Decimated is a post-apocalyptic survival RPG where players take on the role of a human citizen, cyborg cop, or wasteland criminal and engage in varied third-person PvPvE gameplay in a huge open-world built in Unreal Engine 5. Scavenge for food, water, weapons, and more as you try to survive and complete a variety of missions to earn useful rewards while shaping your reputation in this dystopian cyberpunk universe. Tread carefully on foot and manage backpack space as you find fuel to use for a variety of different vehicles to help you navigate the map faster. Next to enemy players from opposing factions, there are also enemy NPCs such as raiders and robots to watch out for. Seemingly victorious battles could end in injuries that could be fatal if left untreated. If you die in this high-stakes blockchain game, you could lose the loot you’ve collected throughout your challenging journey, respawning with limited items instead. This depends on the zone you’re in, and you can find safehouses in which you can store valuable items and also use as respawn points.
While Decimated has been in development since 2018, the first 3 years of Fracture Labs were focused on developing a pre-alpha demo as they started off as a self-funded indie studio. Circumstances changed for the better in Q4 2021 when the team successfully raised $4.1 million and received an Epic MegaGrant. All this helped kickstart development of the full game in Q1 2022, leading to the closed alpha version you can now play and earn in.
